Sequoia Energy expands. New mine means new jobs

Sequoia Energy announced plans to expand its Harlan County division by opening a new coal mine.

The expansion—the result of a large, long-term order—will cost the company roughly $10.1 million in equipment alone. Additionally, Sequoia Energy is expected to hire 48 people in the next few weeks.

Monthly production rates of the new mine is anticipated to reach 80,000 tons.
