A hopping success

Getting the job done no matter what it takes has always been the mantra for the oil and gas industry. Now, Tulsa-based Sawyer Manufacturing has come up with a project to make life a little easier in the oil and gas industry.

The company’s new device, called the Grasshopper, helps workers safely ground pipes before welding them. The device prevents arc burn, which damages the pipe coating and creates the need for more work.

The Grasshopper employs magnets to hold the pipe, preventing stretching or slacking of the coating.

At $150 retail, the Grasshopper is drawing rave reviews.
