Want a six-figure energy job? Go to this Austin job fair

Texas energy companies plan to descend on Austin Oct. 23 with hundreds of jobs to fill, many with salaries over $100,000 a year.

A massive job fair will be part of the Texas Natural Gas Summit from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road.

Sixty companies have signed up for the job fair, officials said. They include Halliburton, Chesapeake Energy and Southwestern Energy. Organizers said the average oil and natural gas worker earns about $107,000 a year.

Last year, oil and gas jobs grew nearly 5 percent statewide and helped Texas lead the nation in job creation
