Texas’ largest solar plant rising up in Pecos County

SAN ANTONIO — The largest solar plant in Texas is now under construction in Pecos County.

San Antonio-based OCI Solar Power recently announced the start of construction on the 110-megawatt Alamo 6 solar plant. OCI Solar’s investment will lead to over 800 long-term jobs to the San Antonio area, company officials said.

“The Alamo 6 project will be built using components that are made exclusively in San Antonio,” said S.H. Yoon, president and CEO of OCI Solar Power. “Our agreement with CPS Energy demonstrates the economic development capacity that we bring to the communities we serve.”

An estimated 250 temporary jobs will be brought to the Pecos County area during the construction phase.
