Energy industry supporting 122,000 Colorado jobs

COLORADO – The oil and gas industry is well established in Colorado, contributing to the state’s thriving economy. Gov. John Hickenlooper just released statistics that highlight the impact of the energy industry.

Colorado is the sixth greatest natural gas producer in the nation and the seventh largest producer of crude oil.

In total, roughly 122,000 Colorado residents work in the energy industry, including 51,000 in the gas and oil sector. The energy industry creates high paying jobs, with the average employee earning $81,000 annually.

Energy companies in Colorado rake in approximately $40 billion annually in revenue.
