Oklahoma City Community College offers CNG certification
OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City Community College continues to offer operator and mechanic certificates for technicians in the alternative fuels industry, NewsOK reports. OCCC’s Professional Development Institute offers both a compressed natural gas (CNG) Compressor Level 1 Operator and Compressor Level 2 Mechanic certification.
The Level 1 Operator course is a three-day class with two days of training and one day of assessment and examination. It is designed for professionals performing routine maintenance on CNG fill stations. The Level 2 Mechanic certification is offered to mechanics with at least three years of experience and covers training necessary to install, repair, replace, service, inspect, modify and maintain a CNG fill station. It is one day of assessment and examination.
The Oklahoma Department of Labor issues certifications to technicians who work on alternative fueled vehicles and refueling/recharging infrastructure after they have met training and experience requirements, demonstrated a set of skills and passed a written exam. OCCC works closely with the Labor Department to design courses that will best prepare technicians for this process.
